Although I do agree with Brian about how there are too many elements... But then I can understand that it would be very hard to portray the 'Paprika' feel without a lot of elements going on... Personally, I'd just cover the whole thing with strange elements (hence still get that feel of the original anime) but have the girl (Paprika?) in just one corner or even in the middle... That way you could get the anime's feel and yet mute the confusion by having the creatures as backgrounds... Am I making sense here

besides, images are supposed to have a lot of going on or at least some, other way it wouldn't be fun to create or as challenging, creating simple pieces can becoming boring and annoying then they become always equal! ^^
